Dear Members of Asian Society of Penile Surgery,

In human history, the penis is central to cultural concepts of masculinity regardless of geography, race and ethnicity. Penile size, length, shape, appearance, and performance are symbol and indicators of masculinity. Current penile surgeries are reconstructive surgery for congenital developmental anomalies such as hypospadias, micropenis and concealed penis, circumcision for phimosis, penile prosthesis for erectile dysfunction, corrective surgery for congenital curvature and Peyronie's disease, urethral reconstruction for trauma, esthetic augmentation surgery for subjective micropenis and penile surgery for premature ejaculation. Among these penile surgeries, some have been accepted as first line treatment but some are not recommended due to the lack of scientific background.

As Secretary General of Asia Pacific Society for Sexual Medicine(APSSM) and Chairman of Korean Society of Men's Health and Aging (KSMHA), I established the Asian Society of Penile Surgery (ASOPS) in Jan, 2019 and hope more Asian members join the ASOPS. Despite of controversy, penile augmentation is more popular in Asia for sociocultural difference from Western society. While unauthorized self-augmentation procedures are commonly conducted in underdeveloped countries, the numbers of penile augmentation surgeries by practitioners are increasing steadily in developed countries in Asia. Recent popular Asian augmentation penoplasty is not an evil trick but to refine, together.

ASOPS hope to establish a standardized procedure, indication, efficacy and safety of each penile surgery through collaboration with members of ASOPS. ASOPS welcome any members who have interest in penile surgery and hope to share experiences.

ASOPS will be a platform to learn brand new information and broaden our perspective into the evolving treatments for penile disorder.
